Join Old Souls' co-founder and head guide James Caroll on a hosted trip to the Kiritmati, aka Christmas Island. This is a true bucket list trip for any saltwater angler, especially those that want to tick a few new species off their list.
Kiribati, pronounced "Keer-ee-bahs" and known to anglers as Christmas Island or CXI for short, is an isolated island nation that lies nearly in the dead center of the Pacific Ocean. The country is made up of 33 atolls that span the Equator and the 180th Meridian, making it the only country in the world with land in all 4 hemispheres.
Kiribati is a web of seemingly unending flats, lagoons, reefs, and white-sand beaches. This unique geography and the islands remote location combine to forms a massive and pristine saltwater environment that sees little pressure from anglers. Bonefish and Milkfish are abundant, and multiple species of Triggerfish and Trevally, including the Giant Trevally, call these waters home.
Join Old Souls' co-founder James Caroll and shop manager William Gipe on our annual hosted trip to Andros Island. Andros Island is a revered destination for seasoned Bonefish anglers as well as a great place to get started in saltwater fly fishing.
Andros is the largest and the least populated of the 700 islands and cays that make up the Bahama Archipelago. Not only is it incredibly large and sparsely populated, but the highly protected marine ecosystem of the West Side National Park takes up over half of the island's territory.
This vast and wild national treasure of the Bahamas covers over 1.5 million acres - over half the size of Yellowstone National Park - and produces some of the most consistent and exciting Bonefishing found anywhere. From those looking to get into their first Bonefish, to seasoned anglers focusing on hunting big fish, Andros has got you covered. There are also plenty of Barracuda, Jacks, and the occasional Atlantic Tarpon to be had.
For over 10 years Old Souls has had the immense pleasure of working, fishing, and just plain old having fun with the Androsian people. Year after year we return to the island to host our groups and find the same smiling & familiar faces greeting us at the lodge, and we are honored to call them our friends.
Join Old Souls' co-founder and head guide James Caroll as we return to Russia's far east for a week of fishing for giant Rainbow Trout in some of the most remote wilderness on the planet. This trip for the truly adventurous anglers out there.
The Kamchatka Peninsula is over 100,000 square miles, making it roughly the size of California, yet despite its vast size there are virtually no roads. Access to the peninsula's interior and its thousands of untouched rivers is limited to Soviet-Era MI-8 Helicopters. The Old Souls crew has made this trip many times but sat out the last few years. We are beyond excited to be in the midst of planning our return in the summer of 2020.
After an overnight in Anchorage and an early AM flight across the Bering Sea, anglers load a bus with their outfitters to transfer to one of the various heliports in the area - although heliport may be a strong word. Most of these places are open fields or farms and it is not uncommon to be loading the heli with your outfitter amongst a herd of grazing sheep.
Fishing mouse flies for giant Rainbow Trout is the primary mission here, but a day throwing streamers can be the most productive trout fishing an angler has ever seen. Aside from the Rainbows - 5 species of salmon span here - Chinook (King), Chum, Pink, Sockeye (Red), and Coho (Silver) salmon arrive en masse depending ont he time of year. For those that want to fish traditional dry flies, Dolly Varden and Grayling can make for some exciting distractions to the primary action. Lastly, there is the Siberian white-spotted char, aka the Kundzha. Endemic only to the Far East, they do not exist on the US side of the Pacific. Most are of average to large trout size, but the occasional sea-run Kundzha can truly be something to behold.

Join us for a float trip or hike-wade trip on the famed rivers of Catskills. We offer full or half day trips for anglers of all skill levels and will tailor the day to your preferences. All guides are highly experienced, NYS certified and insured.
The rivers that carved the hills the Catskill Mountains are home to wild trout and prolific insect hatches, creating an environment that sustains the most productive trout fishing this side of the Continental Divide.
Fly fishing as we know it was born when George LaBranche, author of “The Dry Fly and Fast Water,” cast the first American dry fly at the junction of the Willowemoc and Mongaup Creek. While there have been countless innovations in fly tying and fly fishing overall since George's day, we still largely target the fish of these rivers with the same classic fly patterns, pioneered by the legends who called these waters home over 125 years ago.
Old Souls offers float trips and hike & wade trips on private and public waters from the eastern Catskills to Sullivan County. Join us for a day on the water and check out the buzz in the newly re-energized towns surrounding the 700,000 acre Catskills Park.
We welcome anglers of all skill levels and instruction is always included for those just starting out. We are happy to tailor our trips to your preferences and level of comfort. Anglers are welcome to bring their own gear, and loaner gear is available for those that need or prefer it.
