The rivers that carved the hills the Catskill Mountains are home to wild trout and prolific insect hatches, creating an environment that sustains the most productive trout fishing this side of the Continental Divide.
Fly fishing as we know it was born when George LaBranche, author of “The Dry Fly and Fast Water,” cast the first American dry fly at the junction of the Willowemoc and Mongaup Creek. While there have been countless innovations in fly tying and fly fishing overall since George's day, we still largely target the fish of these rivers with the same classic fly patterns, pioneered by the legends who called these waters home over 125 years ago.
